Katie Lor Class of 2018

She’s only a junior, but Katie Lor is well on her way to a hoped-for career with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Pathway Oregon scholar from Gresham, Oregon, majors in planning, public policy and management and minors in ethnic studies. As the community health intern at United Way of Lane County, she’s applying what she learns in class. She also manages the career education team in the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business.

Ask her how she juggles so much and she’ll say it’s all thanks to UO donors. Although she does borrow money for rent, scholarships free her to focus her energy on career-related activities.

“I am so very thankful for all the financial assistance I have received,” says Katie, who has several Merit Scholarships. “My parents do all they can, but with six kids either in college or heading there soon, money is a big factor.”
