Sprinting to a master’s
She entered the UO’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center as a two-time All American and sports enthusiast originally from Nigeria. Ofuma Eze-Echesi leaves with an MBA in sports business, earned with honors.
“Even with three merit scholarships, coming to UO was still difficult for my family financially,” she says. “I want donors to know that these awards helped me be more present in the moment, and more involved in activities that directly pertain to my career.”
Eze-Echesi kept up her running, became a volunteer coach, worked for two professors as a research assistant, served as assistant director of the Prefontaine Classic, tutored accounting students, and more.
“What I am most proud of is that I was able to involve myself in so many things beyond the classroom,” she says. “Scholarships give people like me the opportunity to become better versions of ourselves and reach our true potential.”
