Greetings. Our publication deadline was in early April, and the stories featuring Jakob, Nelly, Dan, and Wendy were written in February—before we were aware of the impact COVID-19 would have on campus. The situation evolved quickly, and by the time you read this in May, things likely will have changed again.

At press time, we were in the second week of the shift to distance instruction for our students. Our number one priority, then and now, is to provide them with quality education also with safety, support, and the resources to succeed in this unusual time.

To that end, UO staff members have called each student enrolled for spring term. Our office has been fortunate to make some of these calls, and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I am impressed with our students’ ability to adjust and stay positive in the face of dramatic change.

It is a good reminder of why each of us feels such loyalty to the UO. Thank you for all the ways you support the university. Be well.
