News from the Director

Jesse Visser

If you lived on campus as a freshman, you probably have some great stories. As it turns out, the advantages of “living in” may surprise you.

Studies show that students who begin college living on campus have an easier transition socially and academically. They also earn better grades, are more likely to graduate, and are happier with their overall college experience.

This fall, with the opening of our third new residence hall, we finally have enough rooms again to require all first-year students to live on campus (with some exceptions for special cases). Next, you’ll be hearing about upgrades to the oldest residence halls, beginning with the classic Bean complex. It’s all part of the UO’s commitment to setting up our students for success.

Thanks for all you are doing to support UO students!
